Almost half way between Budapest and lake Balaton, lake Velence with its sparkling water-surface richly covered with islands of reed and continuos reed stretches and on its northern shore with gently emerging mountains and sloppy hills attracts the travellers of Transdanubia ( the part of Hungary that lies between the Danube, the Drava and the Western Frontier of the country.) The lake with its 26 km surface ranks the third biggest natural still water in Hungary, after the lakes Balaton and Fertő.

Almost the third part of its surface is covered by reeds, providing an ideal nesting and hiding place for several thousands of water birds. Its favourable geographic and climatic features, its high number of sunny hours, its water suitable for open-air bathing, water-sports and fishing, as well as its tempting surroundings for hiking, make the lake Velence a popular resort, pleasure and excursion place for hundred thousands of people. Its fauna and flora is especially rich, while its uniquely beautiful scene attracts the visitors and scientific researchers from afar. The lake is extremely rich in fish. In the anglers' opinion it is one of the best sports to hook carps. Beside carps, pike, pikeperch , carp-beam and recently amour and cel are living in the water rich in planktons.

The hotel is situated right at the shore of the lake, 100 meters from the main road in an environment perfectly fit for recreation. The rooms all have a bathroom and are equipped with a fridge, a telephone and a colour TV. There are the place for barbecue,  a tennis court, a volleyball court and a table tennis table in the park around the hotel building. There is opportunity for hiking, walking, cycling in the nearby mountains, and you can do water-sports on the lake.
